ilovecharts: Progress While I support and appreciate all the current administration has done for the LGBT community, I have two problems with this timeline. Jan 4, 2010 and Feb 14, 2011 both mention HIV/AIDS-related victories. While I understand the stigma that surrounds the LGBT community in respect to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, I do not feel that it is a necessary inclusion in a civil rights progress meter. It is this mentality - that LGBT citizens carry/spread/are more susceptible to disease - that is detrimental to the LGBT image. The end of DADT is bolded and highlighted darker which, to me, gives the timeline a finality. However, the end of DADT CANNOT BE THE END but should rather be looked at as a milestone in the ongoing battle for civil rights equality.
